Muse To Headline Coachella 2010

As if Muse wasn't getting enough buzz in recent months, they now have something else to look forward to. They have been added as the headliner for the Saturday, April 17 date for Coachella. The festival takes place every year in California. This is in addition to a growing tour they will be on for most of this year with Silversun Pickups opening. The New York date of this tour is on March 5 at Madison Square Garden and is sold out (according to Silversun PIckups' website).

Golden Globe Awards

I only watched the first hour of the awards last night (turned it off for the season premiere of 24) but I kept track of everything through EW's live blog and the award's website. I have linked to the nominations and winners list for you. What I would really like to focus on is Glee's win for Best Comedy or Musical. They had been nominated for four awards total but this was the only prize they got to take home last night. This one award is probably what amounts to the cherry on what has been a delicious sundae for them this season. ratings are good, soundtracks have been made and sold, and they have been renewed for a second season. Now they are being called the best of what comedy shows have to offer. Exciting news for both the cast and their Gleeks. Here is an interview the cast did with Spin Magazine:

This will have to tide you over until they start up again in April.

Yula Beeri played to a captivated audience at Knitting Factory last night. I've seen her play before, but it never gets boring seeing her again and again. Here are a few photos plus a little promo video for her show tonight at Rockwood.

Social Media Site Goes Pink

People all over are starting to see the potential benefits of using social media sites to help promote their organization. Lately the focus has been on strategies in using Twitter for business and promotional purposes, but Facebook has recently been put back in the spotlight for ingenuity on the part of its members. If you are one of the millions of people who log on to their Facebook page every day, you may have noticed the status updates of many of your female friends have become much more colorful. That is because these ladies are trying to help raise awareness for breast cancer. While the origin of this campaign is unknown, the results are concrete. What may have started as a small project has brought attention to Susan G Komen's fan page and their fight against breast cancer. Good Morning America even did a feature on it, which is the link of the day here. This is the power of the internet and the good that can come from it. Who said this thing was just a fad?

Things to do in NYC this week

This week has plenty of fun events to offer for fans of live music. Tonight go check out Bryan Fenkart and special guests at Bitter End on Bleaker Street. Make sure to stick around for Richie Cannata's Monday Night Jam. Wednesday continues Yula Beeri's Residency at Knitting Factory, which you won't want to miss. Thursday spend the night at Rockwood Music Hall for a great night of music, including a performance by Yula Beeri and the eXtended Family and the second night of Joey Ryan's Residency. Top off the week on Friday with The Yummy Fur, which features members of Franz Ferdinand and 1990s.

Have a musically good week, everyone. Keep rockin' on. \m/

Post Script 2009

In my previous post on this past year in music, I neglected to include Kevin Devine. To make up for it I thought I would post the new video from that album.

Kevin Devine - Another Bag of Bones (from Brother's Blood)

And one of my favorites, also from "Brother's Blood"
